Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between electronic administration and employee performance in state-owned tertiary institutions in Rivers State, Nigeria. An explanatory survey research design was employed. The study population comprised 5,109 academic and non-academic staff from four state-owned institutions: Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State University, Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, and Elechi Amadi Polytechnic. A sample of 370 respondents was determined using Taro Yamane’s formula. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics, including tables, means, and standard deviations, were used for univariate analysis, while Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient, facilitated by SPSS, was used to test hypotheses. Findings revealed a significant positive relationship between electronic administration and employee performance. The study concludes that the adoption of electronic administration positively influences job performance in state-owned tertiary institutions. It is recommended that institutional management continually upgrade electronic administrative systems to enhance communication efficiency and further improve employee performance.
